Oh Canada!!! Vancouver & Whistler Olympics 2010
My deepest sympathies go to the family, friends, teammates and countrymen & women of Nodar Kumaritashvili, the Georgian luge racer that died in a horrible accident the first day of the games, I think it was only fitting that the IOC president dedicated these games to his memory.
Thank you and congrats to all the Canadian athletes for making this the most succesful winter games ever for Canada, you all deserve to take a bow for all your hard work and perseverance just to get to the level of qualifying for the games let alone compete at a level high enough to actually win a medal.
Thank-you also to all the volunteers, workers, organizers, host families, police, security, score keepers, time keepers, judges, referees and COC & VANOC & IOC members for making these games such a success!!!

I wish I could have …
I wish I could have been there, especially for the gold medal hockey game, I probably would have my pants from all the excitement!!!
Unfortunately I couldn’t afford to go to any of the events which really sucks, I couldn’t afford to go to the Calgary games either & I was too young to go by myself to the Montreal games, will I ever get the chance to see the games in my own country…I hope so but if history is anything to go by it will be another 22 years before the games would return

So you personally …
So you personally were in the audience of the Olympics?
I didn’t follow the Winter Olympics much, because in my country there is hardly a snow. The Winter Olympics seem to be popular only in select few countries in which there is regular snow, unlike the Summer Olympics, which are well noticed in ALL countries of the world.
And yes, it was pretty sad that the games opened with the tragic death of Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili…

Yes those sexy …
Yes those sexy mounties were quite nice, too bad all Mounties didn’t look like that, I might get arrested once in a while if they did! The singer on the hat was Micheal Buble, he’s really made a name for himself as a crooner down in NYC!
I got a kick out of the giant animals, Made in Canada…nice!!!
Whoever organized the closing sure brought their sense of humour to work that day, I haven’t heard one bad comment about it at all.

Oh man, I was …
Oh man, I was saying to my best friend while watching the ceremonies how they should’ve had Rush perform last night.

If I see her I will …
If I see her I will. However, it is a very large department. I could go about without ever bumping into her.
March 2nd, 2010 at 9:32 pm
Yeah, we wanted to …
Yeah, we wanted to see Bob and Doug, too! : D
We got a kick out of the sexy Mounties gals, and the singer standing on a giant Mountie hat was a hoot. The big beavers, with “Made in Canada” on the bottom of their tails were my fave.
As for the final hockey game, my daughter kept saying “I think there are more Canada players than USA players on the ice!” I told her only looked that way because they were playing so well. It was a hellava a game, eh? Congrats fer sure! : )

Cool, pass on my …
Cool, pass on my congrats to her.
The free dance her & Scott did was great, they deserve their gold medals!

Ya gotta love our …
Ya gotta love our sense of humour, we tend to pick on ourselves before anyone else can, we’re an odd bunch in that sense but we do have fun with it.
I think most of the common stereotypes about Canadians were probably made up by Canadians just to mess with people from other countries and have some fun.
The closing ceremonies were pretty good but I was waiting for Bob & Doug MacKenzie to show up or Rush or Stomping Tom and they didn’t, too bad, that would have been great!

I hope they do well …
I hope they do well too.
Interestingly, two of the olympians were from my neck of the woods in Windsor, Ontario. Ron Wilson, head coach of the U.S. men’s hockey team, was born in Windsor. One of our ice dancers that won the gold, Tessa Virtue, actually goes to the university here and we’re in the same psychology program (I only found out that we had an olympian in our midst until after she won). So when she get’s back, she’ll be greeted with a huge welcoming and congratulations.

I love the Olympics …
I love the Olympics, winter and summer. I watched as many of the competitions as I could. It was a rough start with the death of that young competitor, but I was glad to see everyone pay tribute to him with a standing ovation last night.
Y’all did a great job from start to finish! The closing ceremonies were fun to watch. How clever to make a joke about the errant arm that didn’t rise in the opening ceremonies!
Thank you for hosting the Olympics. Even we who watched on tv had a great time!

I think Canada did …
Congrats.
I think Canada did god

Noooo! I’m just …
Noooo! I’m just playing with you. I don’t think anyone is going to roll out the red carpet for you because you said congratulations!
I’m too good at keeping a straight face. It gets me in trouble. Sorry.

Can you trust my …
Can you trust my sincerity? What does that mean? You seriously think I’m doing it for gain?
March 2nd, 2010 at 9:32 pm
What? I don’t …
What? I don’t understand this?
March 2nd, 2010 at 9:32 pm
But can we trust …
But can we trust your sincerity? You are heading to Canada. It’s in your best interest to “play nice”. I have nothing to gain, but I’ll say it anyway – Congratulations to Canada!
Can i get my scholarship now? My alternate channel name – DontSingSoGreat.

I couldn’t speak …
I couldn’t speak during the anthem, I couldn’t see half the time either, y eyes kept getting cloudy like the Camaro in the commercial Chev’s been running.
I hope our paralympians do well also, aparently the sledge hockey team is really good???
March 2nd, 2010 at 9:32 pm
Yes, the Canadian …
Yes, the Canadian athletes did pretty good, they may not have recieved as many medals as the US (37) or Germany (30) but they did get 26, more than half gold so I would say it was a resoundingly spectacular end result for them.
I think all the athletes should be proud of themselves, it isn’t an easy task just to qualify for the Olympics let alone win a medal.
March 2nd, 2010 at 9:32 pm
It’s difficult not …
It’s difficult not calling your countries athletes “us” because we sometimes get so wrapped up in them and what they are doing. I think they deserve to be given the respect of being separated from the fans because they are the ones putting in all the hard work and making the sacrifices to try to represent their country as best they can.
When I was a young athlete I didn’t like fans trying to be part of my team, I liked their support though.
March 2nd, 2010 at 9:32 pm
Yay for the winter …
Yay for the winter Olympics, Canada and all the wonderful Canadians that I know! ;P
March 2nd, 2010 at 9:32 pm
I like how you …
I like how you detached yourself from the athletes by saying “us… I mean them…” I don’t know why but it bugs me when ultra nationalistic persons say “we won!” Maybe I’m being too critical… But still.
Keep your videos coming!

I felt like crying …
I felt like crying during our national anthem being played after we beat the US today. The fact that over half of the medals we won in these games really speaks for itself how our athletes represented our nation this February, and we have broken the record for the most gold medals won by both a home country in the winter olympics, and in a winter olympics in general. There’s a lot to be proud of right now. That’s why the houses were empty and everyone was partying today.
